Herzberg and Herzberg Tower

The Herzberg is Bad Homburg's very own mountain and can be scaled on foot or by mountain bike - cars are not permitted. The shortest route on foot starts from the Saalburg car park, but "real" cyclists or hikers start from the spa town itself, of course.

Herzberg is about 600 meters high, with an additional 25 meters or so on top, which is made up by the Herzbergturm, the tower that has been a popular destination for 100 years. If the weather is good, the platform offers a magnificent view over Bad Homburg, stretching to Frankfurt and the Main plain, right up to the Vogelsberg, Spessart and Odenwald.

A quaint pub is located at the foot of the tower, which was styled as a Roman watch tower to reflect the proximity to the Saalburg and the Limes. The pub serves small snacks or hearty meals, washed down with a cool beer or Äppelwoi.
