This is how the people of Hessen used to live and work! Visiting the Hessenpark in the middle of the Taunus is like taking a trip back in time. 100 buildings, which originated from numerous villages around the federal state and have been rebuilt in the open-air museum, some of them even with original furnishings, bring some 400 years of rural existence back to vibrant life. In addition to historic houses, the museum also features a village school, church, synagogue, farms, and crafts shops. Presentations of old traditions are given on the fields and in the workshops. Exhibitions also provide a varied picture of past times. The markets are an experience for the whole family – from the pottery market to the plant and farmers' markets, right up to the cheese festival and Christmas market.

The historic market square, which is accessible all year round, is a wonderful place to shop. Small shops offering personal service and numerous traditionally-made products from the region are the perfect excuse for a shop. The "Zum Adler" inn and the "Alter Markt" restaurant in the Landhotel "Zum Hessenpark" provide welcome havens for a refreshing break.
