Sinclair House

The late baroque house in the direct vicinity of the Castle was restored at the beginning of the 1980s. Originally named after Isaac von Sinclair, a friend of Hölderlin, it now houses the museum run by ALTANA Kulturstiftung. In addition to the Foundation's own collection, the House focuses on "nature in contemporary art". Once a year, different works are selected from the collection and put on display. The collection comprises 600 works by contemporary international artists, such as Georg Baselitz, Anna Gaskell, Roni Horn, Alex Katz, Anselm Kiefer, Karin Kneffel, Kiki Smith or Markus Lüpertz. Other exhibitions showcase well-known national and international artists from the 20th and 21st centuries.

A central feature of the program offered by Sinclair House is the organization of events relating to the exhibitions, and an extensive education program that brings children, teenagers and adults into closer contact with art and nature.
